Understanding White Lung Syndrome
You may have been seeing something talked about in the news: white lung syndrome. What is it? Is it something to be concerned about? Let's explore this new and emerging illness.
What is White Lung Syndrome?
It had been primarily reported by patients in China but seems to be spreading. Cases have been reported in Ohio in children. It appears to be a combination of influenza, SARS COV2, respiratory syncytial virus and mycoplasma pneumoniae.
What we know
On imaging, this syndrome appears as white patches in the lungs. It is a sudden outbreak and rapidly spreading and that is why it has been called an outbreak. There may be cough, fever, sore through, water eyes, rash and more. So far, it does sound alot like any seasonal flu, but the exception may be the combination of pathogens involved.
What is Mycoplasma Pneuominae?
This is a type of bacterial pneumonia. Pneumonia is an infection that inflames the air sacs in one or both lungs. Air sacs may fill with fluid or pus (purulent material). This causes cough with phlegm or pus, fever, chills and difficulty breathing.
There may be chest pain upon breathing or coughing. There might be confusion of changes in metal awareness, cough, fatigue, fever, sweating and shaking chills.
What can you do about this?
In any suspected pneumonia, an x-ray of the lungs is crucial. Bacterial pneumonia is important to keep an eye on and could be serious. There are also many natural herbs and remedies that you can use either before or after a bacterial pneumonia has been diagnosed.
Some popular natural remedies
As far as herbs that can fight an active respiratory infection, consider echinacea, elderberry, gelsemium, myrrh and Oregon grape root. Homeopathic remedies to consider include Gelsemium, Oscillococcinum, Allium Cepa, Pulsatilla, Arsenicum Album and Drosera. Common nature cures include doing warming socks treatment before bedtime and applying a castor oil pack to the abdomen for 30 minutes once a day.
